About Sibling Harmony

Sibling Harmony uses guitars, drums, vocal harmonies, and a multi-media presentation to involve audience members and encourage them in their faith. Kim, Kurtis, & Kevin Bueltmann write songs for all ages and are passionate about bringing fun, energy and depth to their concerts geared for the entire family.

"You play drums standing up?" "My choir director always told me that it's better to STAND when you SiNG and no one ever told me it's better to SiT when you PLAY DRUMS." quips Kurtis, the comedian of the trio. Kurtis bought special equipment to allow him to push the foot pedals down with his heels which is a lot easier than doing it the normal way while standing. Standing also allows him to have good eye contact with the audience. Kurtis served as a camp director in Wisconsin and now serves as a pastor in Belvidere, IL.

All three siblings play a variety of instruments and actually take turns playing each other's instruments in concert. Kim, sings the lead on many of the band's original songs, spent several years in Germany serving a church there before moving back to serve a church in Illinois in the areas of Music, Youth and Family ministry.

These three siblings are all full-time church workers trained in and/or serving in Youth and Family Ministry. They grew up in central Illinois, but after college, went their separate ways. Kevin, who has been writing children's songs professionally since 1999, has served churches and camps in Montana, Nebraska, and Illinois. After Kim & Kevin both moved back to Illinois, they felt that they were close enough to Kurtis in Wisconsin to to form the band.

The name “Sibling Harmony” does not merely refer to the fact that the band members are siblings, but also to the fact that they are brothers and sisters in Christ.

Kim Bueltmann is a Deaconess at St. John Lutheran Church in Champaign where she serves in the areas of Youth, Music, and Family Ministry. Her MySpace says: "I am a Deaconess, musician, daughter, sister, and friend. I love the kids at SJL, my parents, brothers, 17 nieces and nephews, and friends! I love music--playing piano, saxophone, guitar, bass, percussion, organ, mandolin, and now trumpet! Also enjoy listening to music, composing, and jamming with my band Sibling Harmony. I enjoy the outdoors: walking/hiking, gardening, rollerblading, canoeing, and playing soccer. I have been of fan of Michael W. Smith pretty much since I was born, my favorite band is Caedmon's Call. I also love Lost and Found, Tangled Blue, Andrew Peterson, Bebo Norman, Mark Schultz, Superchic(k), and others."

Kurtis Bueltmann lives in Belvidere, Illinois, with his wife Cyndi and four children, Jacob, Abi, Augie, and Jordan. Kurtis spent twelve years as the Executive Director at Camp LuWiSoMo in Wild Rose, Wisconsin, and currently serves as Assistant Pastor at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Belvidere, focusing in the areas of evangelism and discipleship. He graduated from Concordia University – River Forest, IL, with a BA in Secondary Education while also completing the coursework for the Director of Christian Education program. He attended both Concordia Seminary – St. Louis, MO, and Concordia Theological Seminary – Fort Wayne, IN, and was ordained at Trinity Lutheran Church in Wautoma, WI. Kurtis loves sports, computers, reading (esp. sci fi & fantasy), martial arts (currently a 2nd degree black belt in Tae Kwon Do), and, of course, music.

Kevin Bueltmann lives in St. Louis, Missouri where he is attending Concordia Seminary. He has served as a DCE in Kalispell, Montana and Normal, Illinois and as Director of Camp Luther of Nebraska and most recently worked at Camp CILCA near Springfield Illinois. He writes VBS songs for CPH and helps lead his church's contemporary service. Kevin graduated from Concordia University in Seward, Nebraska where he also got his Master’s Degree in Family Life Ministry. Kevin enjoys spending time with his wife and four children and enjoys sports like racquetball and volleyball.
